In the bustling world of international trade, Roger Gu stands out as a beacon of professionalism and resilience. His journey through various roles in procurement and business development has equipped him with the skills needed to thrive under pressure and manage significant responsibilities.
Roger’s career began at the Shanghai Xianyi Pulverizing Machine Co., Ltd., where he served as a General Manager Assistant. His responsibilities included negotiating with foreign customers and translating important documents. This role ignited his passion for international business and laid the groundwork for his future endeavors.
His academic background further fortified his expertise. Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Economics from York University, Roger developed a keen analytical mindset that would later prove invaluable in his career. He also pursued studies in International Economics and Trade at Seneca College, gaining insights into global market dynamics.
Roger’s first significant role in procurement came at Traco Limited in Hong Kong, where he worked as a Merchandiser. He quickly learned the intricacies of sourcing OEM home appliance products and managing supplier relationships. His dedication to excellence resulted in reliable partnerships and successful negotiations with clients worldwide.After two years, Roger transitioned to Menston Limited, where he served as Sales Manager. Here, he devised strategic sales plans and coordinated international exhibitions, significantly enhancing the company’s market presence, particularly in Japan.
A highlight of his tenure was sourcing petrochemical additives for the Snowa EPS plant. Roger's meticulous attention to detail and ability to negotiate favorable terms were critical in the success of this project. He not only improved the supply chain but also contributed to the company’s bottom line by reducing costs and enhancing product quality.
In 2022, Roger accepted a challenging position as a Petro Business Representative at HMC Group. Here, he dove into crude oil business development, bitumen sales, and LPG. His involvement in the Iran National Purchasing Project and copper cathode market development showcased his aptitude for business forecasting and strategic planning. Despite the high stakes and intense pressure, Roger thrived, utilizing his vast experience to navigate challenges and deliver results. His ability to maintain composure and focus under pressure has earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
